Referee General Information
Quality referees, 12 years of age and older, are always needed
To qualify as a licensed referee you must attend a Referee Clinic, which is typically a one or two day course that is offered during the winter or early spring months.
All licensed referees must attend a recertifiation course each year to maintain their status. These clinics are scheduled during the winter or early spring months.
If you would like additional information, or would like to referee for the Shakopee Soccer Association, please contact our Referee Coordinator
The Shakopee Soccer Association is planning to host a Grade 8 and Grade 9 referee class AND a Grade 8 recertification class!
Grade 9 (entry level referee - can only be a side line ref for ages 14 and below)
Grade 8 (next level up - can center ref any games younger than your own age, and can side line ref for all ages up to 19)
Regarding New Referees:
All attendees 18 years of age and older must complete a Background Investigation form before they are allowed in the clinic. They can obtain the form from the MYSA website. The form must be notarized. It can be done in advance of the clinic otherwise the club will provide a notary at the clinic site during check in.
Class fees, dates and times will be determined at a later date.
